Amazon Haul : A closer look at budget friendly

Amazon has introduced “Amazon Haul,” a new section within its app and website, featuring products priced under $20, with many items under $10 and some as low as $1. This initiative offers discounts of 5% on orders over $50 and 10% on orders exceeding $75, with free shipping available for purchases over $25. Currently in beta, Amazon Haul is accessible to U.S. customers who update their Amazon app.

The product range spans categories such as fashion, home goods, lifestyle items, and electronics. Unlike Amazon’s typical swift delivery, items from Amazon Haul have a delivery window of one to two weeks.

What Does This Mean for Competitors like Temu?

This move is seen as a response to the growing popularity of Chinese marketplaces like Temu, which have gained traction among consumers seeking affordability. Research indicates that while U.S. consumers generally trust Amazon more than Temu, many are increasingly shopping on the latter platform. A survey by marketing software company Omnisend revealed that 17.5% of global respondents believe Temu could surpass Amazon as the leading e-commerce platform.

Neil Saunders, Managing Director at GlobalData, notes that the value retail segment has experienced significant growth in recent years. He points out that while Amazon is known for offering good value, its extensive product range means it isn’t primarily viewed as a low-price destination. Amazon Haul aims to address this by providing a dedicated space for ultra-affordable products, potentially attracting budget-conscious shoppers and mitigating the risk of losing market share to competitors like Temu.

    Initial Reception

Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon’s Vice President of Worldwide Selling Partner Services, emphasized the company’s commitment to affordability and customer satisfaction, stating, “The new storefront would make shopping for fashion, electronics and other items more fun, easy and affordable.”

In an article by Digital Trends, it was noted that Amazon Haul is “the tech behemoth’s way of taking on the likes of Chinese retailers Temu and Shein, whose own bargains are becoming increasingly popular with online shoppers in the U.S.”

CNN underscored the platform’s focus on affordability, stating, “Amazon Haul just launched, and it’s curating a selection of products for $20 or less.

Yahoo Finance highlighted Amazon’s strategic response to market trends, reporting, “Amazon’s new online discount service, Amazon Haul, has products priced at $25 or less. It’s a move to offset shoppers’ move to Temu and Shein.
